Two Page Mini Delve - The Pale Reaver
by Michael G. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 03/26/2023 20:45:29

I really enjoyed reading this one-shot adventure and will use it soon in my DMing (using Moldvay Basic D&D rules). Very well-written.

Two Page Mini Delve - Deepwood Memorial
by Daniel R. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 06/28/2022 22:07:31

Not gonna lie. This Adventure isn't what I was expecting. And felt unsatisfying to run for my group. Chalk it up to personal preference.

While a short & sweet Adventure module set in a ruined Elvish made Cemetary that's edited well, and contains a great map. It's not good for tying into a larger, overarching adventure(s). I can see that this adventure is basically an Introductionary level module that's good for short 4 hour D&D sessions at best. As the "End-Goal" of this Module isn't as rewarding towards the players as I had hoped for. And is more about exploration into a tomb that leans into Indiana Jones rather than D&D. Not trying to rag on the Author of this piece, but this module wasn't as exciting after playing it.

And Playing it as is, wasn't the best move. To new DMs, one important lesson is to always read through the Module, and edit it. Which thankfully, the third page attached to this adventure has suggestions and helpful advice on how to work that all out.

Even so, this adventure will have to have some additional tweeking, especially if you plan on using it. Having a defined "Item" or "Maguffin" locked away here would be great way of modivating the party.

Other suggestions:

  • Never use the headbands. Makes the players feel like their railroaded on a tour than on an adventure.
  • This Forgotten Memorial should have Skeletons or Undead enemies. Come up with a reason for "Why" the Undead are roaming, especially since the Memorial should be hallowed ground.

Two Page Mini Delves Vol. 1 [BUNDLE]
by Gerald U. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 07/04/2021 08:51:51

This is a series of mini-dungeons by Roving Band of Misfits. They all have a nice small map with room descriptions and a good introductory premise. They can be run in a two-hour session or less so are good for small side-quests stuck in here and there to a campaign, or short one-shots. They all seem quite realistic and well-thought-out for what they are trying to portray.

I highly recommend the whole series.

Two Page Mini Delve - Dwarven Museum at Moriah

The Dwarven Museum at Moriah is actually one of the longer ones of this series. When we ran this, one character did die, mostly due to player's stupidity, so it is reasonably dangerous. There were a couple of ingenious ideas incorporated in this module.

I highly recommend the whole series.

For such a small price, this gave me a great adventure. It is a wonderful 4AD dungeon and was very engaging.

I would love to see more. :-)

I've used this module several times with different groups and everytime has been great (helps if you include music too). Easy to hack and change (Which I did everytime). Great free introductury adventure for GMs looking to include some horror into their game.

Nicely written short module that easily plugged into an ongoing campaign (D&D v3.5) with typical minor changes to suit. I enjoyed running it and the players enjoyed it too.

I played this with my son's grade 5 friends on a return bus trip, that was about 2 hours. I like this and the others in this Roving Bands of Misfits series, as the layout helps to run it with minimal review (once is great). The table included for ramping up the challenge according to party level is a nice touch. These can be great one-shots as they are not too long (one night should be lots) and can be strung together to make the basis of a small party campaign. Great stuff.

Two Page Mini Delve - Cave of Crystals
by Wraith M. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 04/25/2019 13:54:10

I rather like this mini-delve because it can kind of serve as a better "random encounter" I can have any overland-travelling party stumble across rather than the formal quest it's presented as. I'd suggest the writers focus on making more "accidental side-quests", rather than having plot hooks, because two-page dungeons are too short to really hang a session on, but are perfect to have a random potentially interesting thing happen when an overland trek needs to be spiced up, or to make the players bust down a wall in their fortress's basement, and discover there's a crypt with undead down there.

That said for this particular dungeon, there's sort of a problem in that you've basically resolved the only non-player-created problem as soon as you defeat the first monster, and everything else is friendly. It's an open invitation for the players to screw something up and then suffer consequences for it... but there's no help with the consequences or stats or other mechanics for the sealed evil in the can if they let it into the world, so it's the set-up for a interesting finger-wagging punishment for bad player behavior lacking the actual punishment. If the consequences had at least suggestions for how it can be implemented, I'd give a more whole-hearted endorsement.

Two Page Mini Delves - FREE [BUNDLE]
by Gerald U. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 11/19/2018 05:44:26

I took this because it was free (I like free) and it contained shorter dungeons. As a dungeon master and a player I'm not fond of longer dungeons; they go on and on so that the players forget why they were here in the first place. (Longer dungeons are made because it's easier to draw and populate a dungeon than to come up with a good plot for it.) So I took the free bundle with the intention of seeing if I liked them; if I did I would buy the second bundle.

I bought the second bundle, and I'm happy with those too.

5 Questions
by Tad L. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 08/18/2018 20:56:40

This is a really heplful resource. We used it during our Session Zero to flesh out our characters. I had each player roll to be assigned a random question sheet and then let them opt to replace any questions that didn't apply to their character using the ramdom list of all the questions. It worked great! The questions are interesting and genuinely interesting. I'm making this part of launching any new campaign.

Two Page Mini Delve - Deepwood Memorial
by John W. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 08/05/2018 14:14:58

I ran this for a home-brewed fantasy game; the group was 4 players. It was easy to adapt the monsters and traps, and I threw in one more trap in the hallway to the secret room -- just for fun. It was a super foundation to build upon, and, due to player decisions, they'll be returning to study the memorial in more detail! You got my players hooked! Thanks!!

I'm mastering LMoP for 5-6 children on a monthly basis. I included this mini delve for a two days sessions with just my two children (a wizard elf and an halfling). The dungeon gives the DM many options for combat, explore, reward, abilities and the presence of traps help beginners to deal with such objects.
