Set in the city of Eastbrook, there is a bar of some ill-repute. Within the bar, for the hefty fee of 50 gold pieces, you may try your luck at the ultimate game of chance: Da Bonz.

The Story

As the players enter a particular street they hear a blood-curdling scream followed by a large and very loud cheer. As they progress farther down the street, they see a large building named "Home o’ Da Bonz." On the same sign, they will also see what appears to be a mug of beer.
From the outside, this bar appears to be quite large. From within, at perhaps five minute intervals, they will hear occasional loud cheers, laughter, applause, and gasps of excitement. If they enter though, they will see nothing but a small bar with just a handful of clientele. Upon further inspection, they will also see a large sign behind the bar that says...

Occasionally they will see someone carried out on a stretcher. Occasionally they will also see someone walk out with various forms of money or treasure. If the players enter, they will find a large (50' diameter) round outdoor space surrounded by a 10' wide covered area for people to sit. It will have the feeling of a single floored colosseum. In this covered area, people sit at tables, drink, gamble and order food and drinks trom a multitude of waiters.

One man pays his fee to a short, squat, mean-faced man sitting at a table. He then walks to the center of the arena and you hear the following words:

"PICK THEM UP AND THROW THEM IN THE BUCKET NOW OR YOU FORFEIT YOUR TURN AND YOUR PAYMENT!"

Hurriedly, the man reaches for the four tiny objects in the bucket. He knows that they are dice, but dares not take the time to examine them. He begins to take a deep breath, but his last moment of peace is shattered when, from the table, he hears the short squat man bellow out the word "NOW!"

The dice fall into the bucket, and before they stop rolling a strong man pulls on a rope that is tied to the wheeled-platform the bucket and dice rest upon. The platform and dice are rolled away quickly. The man has no idea what he has rolled. He stands there awaiting his fate...

Da Bonz is a book that describes a magic item that you can use in your campaigns.  In the game world, Da Bonz are a set of four dice that can bring your characters a different fate, depending on how they are rolled.  Think of them as a wheel of fortune contained within four small ornately decorated chunks of bone.

As an added bonus, this book will also contian the first 7 chapters of my novel "Asmireen."  This is the novel where Da Bonz firstmade its debut.  I hope you enjoy it!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
