This adventure module is part II of the Per Aspera Ad Inferi trilogy. Eighty+ pages of dark fantasy mayhem that would make Jason and Freddy Krüger run to mommy. Crazy mutant quasi-vikings meets slasher movies from the 80s, with an even darker twist beneath the surface...

Written & mapped by Anders Hedenbjörk Lager (aka dawnrazor) and superbly illustrated by David Lewis Johnson and Jim Magnusson.

What you get:

  • A small detailed overland area (Daddy's Farm and environs)
  • 6 different indoor areas with a total of 42 locations
  • B/W maps for all areas and a color map for the overland area
  • 6 new unique boss monsters/NPCs (of which one is a godlike being)
  • 13 new monsters
  • 3 new magic items
  • 6 new spells
  • Optional horror & madness rules
  • 6 new traps
  • New drugs & poisons
  • Optional rules for reading weird tomes including 20 unique tomes
  • Alternative healing rules
  • Alternative rules for used armor & weapons
  • Optional task resolution system for old school d20 games
  • Custom encounter tables and more!

The adventure is written with Swords & Wizardry Complete in mind, but is easily used with whichever OSR game you prefer.

It is also intended for mature gamers and suitable for a group of 4-6 characters of level 4-6, but not balanced in any traditional way (in my home game I ran it for a group of 5 characters of level 5-6).

And in this adventure, OSR literally means "oh shit, run". If you still can, that is...

The PDF download furthermore comes bundled with a complimentary map pack containing larger versions of all the maps.

Ok, reading the discussion and this sounds tasty. Another sale! And If I like it, I'll do a review.

Please tell me the inspiration for this trilogy is Ghost's "Per Aspera ad Inferi" from Infestissumam!!

Indeed, it is. Back when I wrote the adventure, Ghost was this local Swedish metal band and not very well known. And for the connoisseurs, "Come to Daddy" is a really creepy music video by Aphex Twin.

YES! You sir, have just made a sale! However, I should ask you to pay for the trauma counseling I now need after watching the "Come to Daddy" video...LOL!

Looking forward to reading these adventures, and I'm already anticipating the final part of the trilogy.

BTW, if Papa Emeritus is already an NPC, I think I might have to take some creative liberties when I run these adventures for my group.

CHEERS!

Thanks a lot :) I can comfort you with the fact that Papa E isn't in the adventures, but I like the idea so he might figure in the last part, whenever I get around to finish it. I wrote these adventures a few years ago when I was much into OSR gaming, or rather into old school D&D rules, but wanted to show that old rules could be used for game styles other than traditional location-based vanilla D&D. Since then I have moved on to other games plus changed work, so these days time for game-related stuff is really scarce, meaning that I have to prioritize actual gaming over publishing adventures. But the 3rd part sits on a hard drive about half-finished, so maybe I should take it up again... I also have two other half-finished adventures sitting around, both with complete maps and illustrations. Hmmm...

Got the map packs and handouts...great addition and thanks!

However you choose to prioritize, as long as you're content is what matters. That being said, I'll still keep an eye out for the completion of this trilogy...at some point...with a cameo from Papa E! LOL!

Cheers and enjoy the end of the year!!!!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
