Selected Option:

This Atlas of the Hidden Realms illustrates an amazing and unique medieval fantasy world created over many years by Cornelius Clifford. Includes twelve highly detailed pen & ink maps and literally hundreds of entries in the gazetteer. Descriptions of the countries, realms, tribal territories, peoples, towns, cities, villages and more that can be discovered and explored in this fabulous and magical medieval world. Profusely illustrated with line drawings of fantasy buildings from the Hidden Realms, this could well be one of the most comprehensively mapped fantasy worlds ever published. Ideal setting for all sorts of gaming, especially medieval fantasy or old school role playing. Illustration and design by Cornelius Clifford. The scale of the maps is roughly 10 miles to one inch.

I just purchased this title and I'm loving the art and fluff text for all the towns and lands. I am however surprised that the map is split up into 12 sections and there is no complete map. Is there any way to get a "full map"?

Hi, thanks for buying the Atlas, really glad you like it. Sadly there is no way to buy a 'full map' at present. I originally drew the maps by hand as twelve seperate (slightly larger than A3) sheets. So the full map would come out at something like 8 feet by 6 feet. Years ago I printed out enlarged (A3) versions of the twelve maps and then taped them together - but it was hard to find a wall or a table big enough to display/use it! It is possible to print one sheet that big, but not via Drive Thru. Sorry about that. Thanks again, Cornelius

It's not quite the same thing, but I found the URL of the site a previous version of these maps used to be on and put the 128 pieces it was in together because I feared it might be lost for good if I didn't do it. Now I've found this version, but if you want to see the beta version (if I can call it that) in one 17-MP image, check it out here: https://i.redd.it/34sl9gzoou701.jpg

Hi Thea, So glad you liked my maps enough to save them as the beta version. That was a long time ago (c 2000?) when the Enchanted kingdom website was up on the web. Obviously I still have the originals of all the versions (let me know if you want more!) These maps started out as my campaign world (using Chivalry & Sorcery) when I used to play lots of role playing games and have developed and evolved into not only a fantasy campaign world but also the setting for various bits of fiction and books. Regards Greg/Cornelius

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
