Silent Memories
A roleplaying game about finding out who you are before you die.

You awaken from a cryogenic sleep aboard a spaceship with no knowledge of who you are or how you came to be here. You have no knowledge of your mission, or even where you are going. All that remains is your training, and the impending sense that something is very wrong.

This is a science fiction/horror role playing game about trying to survive as you begin to piece your memories back together. As the dangers increase, so too do the recollections of your past. Unfortunately what you recall may affect your trust of the people around you or even trust in yourself. Ultimately, one may be revealed to be something evil.

Game play is diceless using a block stacking game like Jenga to slowly build tension. For each block pulled you learn something new about your character.

PURCHASER

I have this game and have read it a few times and love it. Sadly I have been unable to play it.... most of my game groups are online (via G+). Does anyone have suggestions on how to run the game in the digital environment? A Jenga tower is not an option obviously but what are some alternative ways to create that building suspense and tensions of the next "pull"? I have toyed with the idea of a bag of 20-30 white beads and 1 black on for each player plus 1. Or even just a single black bead. Still use the same rule of pull 1-3 for each action. Then when the black bead is drawn then that player receives the envelope of truth or dies (depending on the timing), then adding back in all the beads back into the bag and starting over.
For those who have played this is that acceptable substitute or are there any other alternatives I havent thought about?

I have played this on Tabletop Simulator with a virtual Jenga tower. Your mileage may vary.

I used a spread sheet with 1-20 each having a column and 4 or 5 rows beneath them (depending on how much tension I wanted). I use less rows if I have less players. Every "Pull" is a roll on the D20 and the number / row is marked off. When someone rolls a 4th or 5th time the "tower collapses" and I wipe all the numbers but delete a row and start again. Each time a roll leads to a max amount of that number I delete a row. Sometimes if I want to keep the tension I ONLY wipe that number that hit max and leave the rest.

I have started small groups (3 players) with only 3 rows because I wanted a fast, tense game. This has been the best way for me that I have found to keep the tension of the Jenga tower.

I know you asked for help almost tem years ago, but I faced the same problems as you and I created an online version for my players. I used a lot of YouTube videos from dark spaceships scenarios like this one:

I also used an online Hangman instead of the Jenga tower for the tests. Easy tests need one letter, medium two, and hard three. If the players find out a word (without just guessing the last letter) they would avoid a very bad situation or had a good ending for the whole scene. If someone got hanged, that person's character would die. The Hangman words would carry tips, suggestions and fears connected with the characters. I used words and expressions like "spaceship", "is this a dream" and "traitor", which would get more difficult as the game went on. Link for the Hangman that I used:
