The Backstory & Game

150 years ago a horrible plague called the Red Death swept the known world. When faced with the destruction of their entire clan some of the dwarves of Runehammer turned to a dark evil in an attempt to survive. Until recently that evil lay dormant, but now it threatens to engulf the entire region surrounding the Halls of Runehammer including the small town of Last Stop.

Inn of the Buxom WenchInn of the Buxom Wench

The game begins on a dark stormy night in the small town of Last Stop at the Inn of the Buxom Wench. (Multiple plot hooks are included to quickly bring the players into the game). The players quickly find themselves involved in a large battle as the town is invaded by an undead skeletal army. The aftermath of the battle begins them on their quest to explore the source and cause of the invaders, which is the Halls of Runehammer.

The Region West of RunehammerThe Region West of Runehammer

After a journey through the wilderness the brave adventurers find their way to the dwarven ruins of the Halls of Runehammer where they will explore multiple levels deep into the mountain halls and face many exciting and dangerous encounters into the dark below.

A Note About Downloads

Because this was a kickstarter project with multiple stretch goals please do understand that if you purchase this product there are ALOT of files to download. The map packs are all individually zipped seperately. It was just not possible to zip all the maps into one file called maps. We tried to keep everything in smaller downloadable files for you. Thank you in advance for your patience when downloading the files.

Hi Joel! For the final battle with Thralgas, you mention warriors and archers but I cannot seem to find the number of these creatures with him as it is never specified. Out of curiosity, what number of each applies? Thanks!

Hey Francis C thanks for the question. For this final encounter I would recommend three Runehammer Skeleton Warriors per a player character. They are only CR 1/4 but their arrows could be quite an annoyance and should be there to harass the player characters as they deal with the black orb and possibly freeing the prisoners. Thanks! I would be interested in purchasing a print version of this product if it becomes available on Lulu or something like Diggypod.

In regards to my review...

The publisher asked about the typos, and is already working to correct them. You have to love a designer that is this "on the ball". Thanks for a great adventure and for striving to make it even better!

** Not sure why my review was listed under my first name of Joseph while my comments are under my middle name of Chase, but I figured I'd edit this to let people know they're both me, lol.

Wrong maps were in the Greeting Hall File. Missing greeting hall, lakeside entrance and flooded mines maps if they exist.

Hello Craig H! I just removed and revised the Greeting Hall map pack. There is no map pack for the flooded mines or lakeside entrance. Those two encounters had no maps made for them because combat was not intended to happen there.

We tried to concentrate on maps where it was very probable there would be combat. Overall we made 25 different maps for this project through the kickstarter project.

Thanks again for letting me know about the files for the Greeting Hall!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
